Savonia’s health care education introduces cooperation with St. Petersburg

On 2 and 3 October 2013, a group of 15 students from St. Petersburg Post Graduate School visited Savonia and got acquainted with its health care education. The group consisted of head nurses, chief nursing officers and nursing trainers from various parts of Russia.

Savonia had prepared a two-day programme with the topic “Emergency and Acute Care”. It included an information package on how emergency care is organised and taught in Finland and how simulation pedagogy is used in instruction. The programme also included visits to the Kuopio Rescue Department and to the Kuopio University Hospital.

Likewise, Savonia’s students in the Master-level degree programme in the Development and Management of Health Care and Social Services will make a study trip to St. Petersburg in 2014. The programme will be prepared by St. Petersburg Post Graduate School.
In future, cooperation will be deepened in the development of continuing education curricula, trainers and training modules.
