The January Joint Application period concluded on January 22, 2020. This year, Savonia received a record number of applicants to their Bachelor English programmes: 1,390 applications in total. The number of applications has doubled in the last two years.
The Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business programme has an annual intake of 40 students; this year, it was the most popular programme receiving a total of 421 applications. In 2019, this programme received a total of 323 applications and the year before 149 applications. The programme that received the second highest number of applicants was the Bachelor of Health Care, Registered Nurse programme with 344 applications. This programme has an annual intake of 20 students. The number of applicants for the Engineering programmes, Internet of Things and Mechanical Engineering, increased by 19% and 44% respectively compared to the last year.
The popularity of international programmes is rapidly growing among Finnish people. In 2019, Savonia received a total of 58 applications from Finns; this year, it received a total of 159. In addition to Finland, the countries the countries that send the most number of applicants were: Nigeria, China, Bangladesh and Russia. In total, Savonia received applications from 84 different countries.
Admitted students will start their studies in the autumn in the Kuopio Campus.
