International degree programmes attracted applications from 33 countries

The application period to Savonia’s international degree programmes expired on 25 January 2017. The 35 available study places in these degree programmes at Savonia UAS attracted more than 80 applications. The number of applications submitted to the Bachelor of Business Administration programme was 39 and the Bachelor of Engineering programme received 43 applications. Both programmes are offered in Kuopio and they will start in autumn 2017.

The applicants were from 33 countries, the majority of them from Russia, Vietnam and Morocco. There were also several Central and Southern European applicants, e.g. Spanish, Italian and Swiss. Last year we received applications from 31 countries and, consequently, it can be said that the interest in our education is more widespread.  The number of applications to the engineering programme is lower than last year, but to the business programme it is somewhat higher.

Tuition fees for non-EU/EEA students

At Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences tuition fees will be introduced for non-EU/EEA students for the first time. Previously education was free of charge for all students.

The amount of the tuition fee in the bachelor level programmes at Savonia UAS is EUR5000 per academic year. When the tuition fees were imposed, universities also introduced various scholarship programmes to encourage applicants and support studying.

At Savonia UAS the scholarship may cover 50-70% of the tuition fee.  The prerequisite for receiving the scholarship is to make progress with the studies in accordance with the study plan.

The expired application period was for applicants with international certificates. The joint application period for applicants with Finnish certificates is 15 March – 5 April 2017. Applications to the Master’s Degree Programme in Digital Health (in English) are to be submitted during the joint application period 15 March-5 April 2017.
