Transfer Student Admission at Savonia University of Applied Sciences
If you are a degree student at a Finnish University of Applied Sciences, you can apply for transfer from your current Degree Programme to an equivalent Degree Programme at Savonia University of Applied Sciences to complete your studies. A university student and student studying at a foreign University of Applied Sciences cannot be considered as a transfer student.
As a degree student already studying at Savonia University of Applied Sciences, you can transfer from the current Degree Programme to another Degree Programme in the same field of study if the admission criteria and entrance examination have been similar for the both Degree Programmes. The change of the field of study requires normal application procedure.
The admission criteria for a transfer student
You may apply to Savonia University of Applied Sciences as a transfer student, if you meet the following requirements and there are free study places available:
- You are registered as an attending student at a Finnish University of Applied Sciences
- You have a valid study right at least for one (1) academic term in the same Degree Programme at another Finnish University of Applied Sciences (UAS)
- You have completed enough studies in consideration of the used study time (at least 45 cr/year, credits recognised on the basis of previous studies are excluded)
- If there are more students applying than can be admitted, the students´ study success and the number of credits will be decisive.
Applying for transfer
You can apply for transfer by filling in the Application for Transfer Student form and by sending it together with enclosures (updated Transcript of Records and Student certificate) to the Admissions Office of Savonia University of Applied Sciences
- by the end on November (1 Nov – 30 Nov) for the spring term
- by the end of May (1 May – 31 May ) for the autumn term
We recommend starting the engineering studies at the beginning of the academic year because of study supply.
The decisions on the admission of students are made within three (3) weeks after the expiration of application period and information about the decision will be sent to all applicants. If you are not satisfied with the decision, you may make a claim for rectification in writing to the Board of Savonia University of Applied Sciences in 14 days after the admission results have been published.
After being admitted to Savonia University of Applied Sciences, you will have to accept the study place within two (2) weeks time and bring the notice of resignation from your initial UAS to the Student Affairs Office at the Savonia University of Applied Sciences on your first school day. The admission is conditional until you have presented the notice of resignation.
