Student Selection

Bachelor's Degree Programme in Nursing

Study places available: 15

Student selection of Nursing is based on the pretask and the interview. Applicants must pass all the parts of the exam in order to be selected for admission.

Structure of the entrance exam:

  • Pretask (min. 15 / max. 30 points)
  • Interview (min. 16 / max. 40 points)

Pretask:
All eligible applicants are required to complete the pretask without specific invitation. Pretask includes questions (multiple-choice and short essays) based on the article. Pretask tests also applicants’ proficiency in written English.

Instructions for pretask and the article will be published on Savonia UAS website when the application period starts on 9 January 2019. Pretask must be attached to the application form in www.studyinfo.fi by 30 January 2019 at 3:00 p.m. Finnish time. It is not possible to submit the pretask after the deadline.

Interview:
30 eligible applicants who got the highest score from the pretask will be invited to interview. Interview consists of topics such as the motivation and ethical issues, social skills, learning abilities and applicants’ proficiency in spoken English. Interviews are arranged during 8-10 April 2019 by using Zoom.

Savonia UAS is not co-operating with other UASs and therefore the result of the pretask and the interview is accepted only at Savonia UAS. Savonia UAS will not accept the entrance exam result of any other UAS.

 

Bachelor's Degree Programme in Mechanical Engineering

Study places available: 15

Student selection of Mechanical Engineering is based on either the SAT test or the entrance exam:

  • 8 students are selected on the basis of the SAT test result
  • 7 students are selected on the basis of the entrance exam result

An applicant can participate to the student selection in both ways by taking the SAT test and the entrance exam.

All eligible applicants will be invited to the entrance exam. An applicant must inform on the application form where he / she will participate the entrance exam.

Entrance exam is arranged on 12 April 2019 in

  • Kuopio (Finland)
  • Shanghai (China)

Structure of the entrance exam

  • Written part 1: Mathematics and Logic (min. 6 / max. 24 points)
  • Written part 2: Textual skills in English (Writing and/or reading) (min. 4 /max. 16 points)

All tasks are in English. Applicants must pass all the parts of the exam in order to be selected for admission. The maximum score for the exam is 40 points, and the applicant needs to have at least 10 points to be selected. The total duration of the entrance exam will be 3 hours.

Savonia UAS is not co-operating with other UASs and therefore the result of the entrance exam is accepted only at Savonia UAS. If you attend the engineering entrance exam of Savonia UAS, the result will be accepted to Degree Programme in Internet of Things and Mechanical Engineering. Savonia UAS will not accept the entrance exam result of any other UAS.

SAT test

Savonia UAS requires a minimum score of 400 from Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and 400 from Mathematic. Only new SAT scores taken after 1 March 2016 are accepted. Bachelor's Degree Programme in Internet of Things (IoT)

Study places available: 15

Student selection of Internet of Things is based on either the SAT test or the entrance exam:

  • 8 students are selected on the basis of the SAT test result
  • 7 students are selected on the basis of the entrance exam result

An applicant can participate to the student selection in both ways by taking the SAT test and the entrance exam.

All eligible applicants will be invited to the entrance exam. An applicant must inform on the application form where he / she will participate the entrance exam.

Student selection of International Business is based on either the SAT test or the entrance exam:

  • 10 students are selected on the basis of the SAT test result
  • 10 students are selected on the basis of the entrance exam result

An applicant can participate to the student selection in both ways by taking the SAT test and the entrance exam.

All eligible applicants will be invited to the entrance exam. An applicant must inform on the application form where he / she will participate the entrance exam.

Entrance exam is arranged on 11 April 2019 in

  • Kuopio (Finland)
  • Shanghai (China)

Structure of the Entrance Exam:

  • Written part 1: Essay (min. 3/max. 10 points)
  • Written part 2: Multiple-choice questions (min. 2/max. 6 points)
  • Written part 3: Mathematics and Logic (min. 3/max. 8 points)
  • Spoken part: Group discussion after the written exam (min. 4/max. 16 points)

The total duration of the written parts 1-3 of the International Business entrance exam will be 3 hours. In addition, there will be a 30-minute group discussion (=spoken part) after the written part. The entrance exam is not based on pre-reading material. Part of the entrance exam (essay and multiple-choice questions) is based on reading comprehension and/or analysis of a set of articles which the applicants are given during the exam.

Applicants must pass all the parts of the exam in order to be selected for admission. Applicants scoring below the minimum points for any of the sections will fail the exam.
